Welcome to LITT

This step-by-step tutorial will guide you through the interactive controls and spatial analysis features of the Land Investment Targeting Tool.

Step 0: Define Scope

Use the Define Scope panel on the left to set your boundaries. You can select a governorate from the dropdown, draw custom polygons on the map, or upload your own GeoJSON boundary to begin your analysis.

Step 1: Land Potential

Evaluate the intrinsic biophysical capacity of your selected area. This combines Production Potential (GAEZ v5) and Land Stability to establish what crops can realistically be produced.

Step 2: Risk-Adjusted Potential

Pressures from population, road connectivity, and climate aridity can decrease production capability. In Step 2, you discount the land potential based on these socio-economic and climate pressures.

Step 3: Investment Prioritization

By crossing your Risk-Adjusted Potential with the SDG 15.3.1 Land Degradation Map, LITT segments the region into targeting actions: AVOID (protect), REDUCE (manage), or REVERSE (restore). Click Modify Assumptions to edit these rules in real-time.

Step 4: Investment Planning

Select your target zones on the map to match them with Sustainable Land Management (SLM) options. Enter a budget in the left panel to run an automated ROI analysis and allocate resources across the zones.
